Certified Tutor

I am a passionate educator with a PhD in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and over 10 years of teaching experience. I provide tutoring for AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP U.S History, and writing. I have taught numerous courses on politics and philosophy, guided students though introductory courses on American government, and supervised dozens of independent research projects. My academic background includes teaching and research positions at Goucher College, Towson University, Johns Hopkins, the Max Planck Institute (Goettingen, Germany), and the University of Copenhagen. My teaching philosophy emphasizes a supportive learning environment where students can master main ideas, develop research skills, and learn to evaluate the quality of sources. My extensive academic experience has honed my ability to connect with students and make complex ideas accessible. Working with students has been the highlight of my career, and I enjoy seeing students become lifelong learners.

I spend most of my spare time reading, but I also enjoy a good museum (or an unusual one), exploring cities on foot, watching sci-fi movies, and following professional basketball.
