I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Andrew: Roanoke tutor

Certified Tutor

I am an undergrad UNC, Chapel Hill, working towards degrees in chemistry (B.S.) and philosophy (B.A.). I enjoy tutoring my peers at the university, as it allows me to share my love of learning and to demystify fun, useful subjects. I am most passionate about teaching chemistry, as many students find it intimidating and I take pleasure in helping people overcome that fear. To do so, I explain concepts starting from first principles, take students through example problems, and then give students practice problems in order to identify gaps in understanding and to build mastery. When I am not teaching or taking courses myself, I can be found rowing on University Lake, reading at my favorite coffee shop, or working in a biochemistry lab on campus.
