Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. I also have a Master's degree in Finance from Strayer University. After graduating, I spent several years employed in the Banking Industry. This fast-paced industry didn't allow for ample family time. Therefore, as a firm believer in education, I transitioned into Education. I began my teaching career as an Instructional Assistant for Exceptional Children in grades 3-5. I obtained a certification in Special Education from Forsyth Technical Community College.
I was Lead Preschool teacher for ages 3-5. I taught Kindergarten for one year. I transitioned to middle school where I was an 8th grade EC Resource Teacher. I taught ELA and Math. At present, I am a 2nd grade teacher, where I teach all subjects which includes, Science, Social Studies, ELA and Math.

I am most passionate about math. I was Adjunct Faculty at Forsyth Technical Community College where I taught Developmental Math. In addition, I've also helped struggling students believe that they can learn math in an environment where they feel safe at taking risks and expressing their ideas. My teaching philosophy is to cultivate a love of learning in an environment that focuses on the process of learning using diverse instructional practices. My teaching style is "I Do", "We Do", "You Do" approach. This gives learners opportunities to ask questions to assess their understanding of a concept.
Outside of academics, I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with family.
