As a lifelong writer who currently works in the field of linguistics, it is my goal and honor to help students become authors of their own futures. My core objective is that students not only gain comfort and competency toward their communication goals but also but also that they understand the technologies that are becoming integral to our contemporary communication ecosystem, such as AI. Currently, I am working toward my Master Degree in Writing - Composition & Rhetoric (expected grad. date Winter 2025). I support myself as a Linguistic Data Specialist for QuillBot, which builds on my undergraduate degree in Applied Linguistics, where I focused on TESOL studies. Over the years, I've tutored language learners for multiple organizations and had the pleasure of working closely with Portland's local Swahili refugee community. In my free time, I love travelling with my family and training for the upcoming Walt Disney World Marathon 2026!

Besides being fascinated by how technology influences human writing behavior, I love learning languages and experiencing new cultures. I'm pretty fluent in Swahili (although I don't get much practice these days), and I just failed at learning Korean! (Seriously, I went on a trip to Korea and came back unable to ask where to go to the bathroom... don't get me started on Duolingo!) Like I said in my personal statement, I enjoy long-distance running, although I am about as slow as one can be. I also have three kids, a cat, and a husband. Together, we like hiking and board games (well, not the cat).
