Hello! I'm passionate about helping students understand and enjoy math. I earned my Bachelor's degree in teaching math for middle school from Western Governors University, and I'm currently working on getting certified to teach high school math too. Right now, I teach Algebra 1 at a high school. Before that, I taught 8th-grade math and worked with students learning English. While I was in college, I spent time as a tutor for middle and high school students who needed extra help to catch up in their classes and pass important tests. I learned how to create lessons just for them to help with what they were finding tricky.
My goal when teaching is to make math clear and relatable. I like to show how math connects to the real world and help students feel confident asking questions. When I tutor, I listen carefully to understand where a student is struggling, and then I explain things in a way that makes sense to them. I'm patient and encouraging, and I believe everyone can succeed in math with the right support.
Outside of school, my life revolves around my two awesome kids, who are 10 and 13. You can often find me on the sidelines cheering them on in their sports! I also love to coach volleyball and tennis. When I get a chance to relax, I enjoy vacationing, especially if it involves being near the water snorkeling, scuba diving, or just hanging out on the beach with my family and friends in the summer are some of my favorite things. Maybe we share a similar love for being active and outdoors! I'm here to help with all middle school math, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.
