I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

With a background in English Education and several years of high school classroom experience, I've had the privilege of working with students across a wide range of learning styles and academic goals. I've taught grades 912, including AP Language, Honors, and Regents-level courses, and have tutored students throughout my teaching career. My experience has taught me that confidence is just as important as content knowledge, and I strive to build both through personalized, low-pressure support.

I hold a Master's in Adolescent Education and am currently pursuing a second Master's in Instructional Design. My strongest subjects are English, writing, reading comprehension, and study skills, but I'm also comfortable supporting students in related areas like public speaking and digital literacy. While I enjoy all aspects of English, helping students strengthen their writing is where I thriveespecially when it comes to finding their voice or learning to argue a point effectively.

I believe in meeting students where they are and building up from there. My tutoring style is flexible, supportive, and built around formative assessmentlow-stakes check-ins that help students reflect and grow without fear of failure. Outside of academia, I'm an illustrator and designer, and I bring creativity and curiosity into every session. Helping students feel seen, capable, and proud of their progress is at the heart of why I do this work.

Hobbies

In my free time, I love reading and writing—especially anything by Stephen King. I also enjoy drawing and running my small art business, CMBorzaIllustrations, where I create custom illustrations and designs. Art has always been a creative outlet for me, and I love exploring different styles and mediums. When I’m not reading, writing, or drawing, I enjoy spending time outdoors and collecting inspiration from the world around me.
