My personal philosophy of teaching and learning reflects my core beliefs that guide my daily practice when working with students in an online environment: Students learn best when they have a positive, dynamic relationship with their teacher. A learner-centered approach including individualized instruction and relevant content provides an optimal learning experience. Authentic, relevant assessments are best to monitor students and teachers should elicit frequent feedback from students and devote time to reflection and improvement. There is a multitude of evidence-based research that supports positive teacher/student relationships, learner-centered instruction, authentic assessments, frequent feedback and reflection as part of a successful learning environment.
