I am a Freshman undergraduate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I study Political Science. For years, I have loved helping students along their learning journeys. Whether it was in the classroom or out in camp, I pride myself on being able to work with students in a professional way in which they can meet their learning objectives. I do this by connecting with students individually and understanding what learning styles work for them and what might not. I can then fine-tune the lesson to ensure the student gets the best possible learning experience.
I have taught previously in the classroom, as a teaching intern, and as a camp counselor. In my senior year of high school, I interned as a teaching intern at a middle school, with sixth through eighth graders. After my time there, I was awarded the Student Teacher of the Year award for my teaching approach with students. As a camp counselor, I worked diligently each day to ensure campers could process and understand the content for the day, including working individually with campers who needed additional one-on-one time.
I strongly believe in the power of an excellent education, as it is a concrete pathway to a fulfilling life. I love being present during a student's "Ah-ha" moment when they finally understand a concept; it is my favorite part of the learning process. I believe in the ability of all students to succeed if they are just given the chance.
