Certified Tutor

My passion for education stems from a belief that every student has the potential to reach their full potential. I have witnessed first hand, in my classroom and other classrooms, the difference a dedicated teacher can make in a child's life and learning. I have worked with students ages 4-7 for close to 20 year. I have taught students in both general and special education settings, and am able to provide patience and differentiated instruction when need be. I was educated at St. John's University for general education and Hunter College for special education, both located in New York. In New York, II am certified in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) and Early Childhood-Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2). In South Carolina, I am certified in Special Education:Early Childhood and General Education:Early Childhood. I tutor elementary reading, math, and writing. I would describe my teaching philosophy and tutoring style as Learner-oriented, where I strive to tailor curriculum to the needs of the student and provide scaffolding to help make connections. I enjoy challenging my students to grow and become critical thinkers as well as hold them to high expectations believing they can and will rise to the occasion.
