Anne: Kirkland tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in English Literature. I hold a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and an online teaching certificate from the International TEFL Academy. I currently teach adults English as a second language; I work for a local nonprofit and teach refugees from Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq, and Ukraine. I teach and tutor ESL students in grammar, reading, writing, listening, conversational English, and speaking. I work hard to include all my students in each lesson at my non-profit work. As a tutor, you can expect me to tailor lessons based on your needs and learning style. I enjoy working with every student. I enjoy helping students learn language skills that can be useful in gaining employment, going to school, or just making friends and talking to others. It is essential to try different ways of teaching material based on what you prefer. I have a knack for noticing what needs more work or where to go next in the lesson. I will utilize many different materials, including conversation books. It is essential for me to be flexible. You can expect me to be very relaxed and supportive. A little more about me: I like to jog, play guitar, listen to music, and read in my spare time.
