I am a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. I received my Bachelor of Science in English Education and immediately went in pursuit of my Masters of Arts in English. While in college I specialized in Shakespeare and continued that passion into my career as an educator by attending the Teaching Shakespeare Institute. Since graduation, I have been in the classroom as an Advanced Placement/College English teacher for juniors and seniors. While I mainly work with students during the day, the evenings have recently been filled with writing workshops and writing guidance to adult educators across the globe. While I consider myself a Shakespeare scholar, my true passion has shifted to growing as a writer and helping students and their teachers to grow in that area as well. I got a taste for tutoring when students would come to me for after school help with AP exam preparation and recently helped Fiveable coordinate their AP Cram Sessions. I work especially well with highly motivated yet perhaps a little bit anxious and self-critical students and I like to have fun and build those critical relationships to help make the content engaging. If it wasn't obvious, I am extremely passionate about writing instruction and helping students appreciate the progress of writing -- not the perfection that often leads to crippling self doubt and poorly written drafts. In my spare time, I enjoy reading in an effort to grow as a writer, crossfit, cooking, and taking care of my grumpy old dog.
