Certified Tutor

I am a recently retired middle school English and reading teacher looking for opportunities to help students one-on-one. I have extensive experience teaching students in grades 6, 7, & 8 in a variety of settings: the full classroom, small intervention sessions, and one-on-one tutoring. I especially enjoy working with students who find themselves struggling because English and reading are not their favorite subjects. ;)

I'm a graduate of Bloomsburg University and received my M.Ed. from Lehigh University. I also completed a supervisory certification from Millersville University. During my 31 years in the classroom, I worked as a teacher of writing and grammar, and I also spent time as a literacy coach and reading interventionist. I enjoy helping students with writing sentences, paragraphs, and essays as well as brushing up on their grammar and reading comprehension skills. The best part about working with school-aged students is their passion for technology and pop culture.

Prior to teaching in a public middle school, I taught English as a second language in a community college setting. I enjoyed getting to know people from different cultures, and I learned a lot from them-- everything from dancing to new recipes!
I also spent two summers teaching English to Hungarian students in Toalmas, Hungary.
