Certified Tutor

I just finished my sophomore year at Concordia University Chicago. I am working towards receiving a Bachelor of Science as well as an endorsement in language arts. I am an elementary education major and am really looking forward to getting into a classroom and tutoring is a great way to get an early start. I have always been passionate about helping students even as a high school student, where I would spend my free period as well as my lunch period tutoring other students. I love being able to be a part of someone's success in education. I value doing the most I can for the students I am helping to succeed as this is the most important thing to me. As an education major I have over 50 hours of field experience in classrooms. I worked with 2&3-year-olds, kindergarteners as well as 3rd-grade students. I worked one-on-one with students teaching reading lessons as well as helping out students who struggle with math. I have tutored a range of subjects from math to geography but my favorite is math. I also have the most experience teaching math since this is the subject I have always been best at. I have also taken the most honors and advanced placement classes in math. My second favorite subject to tutor would be English as I have also taken many honors and advanced placement classes throughout high school. My teaching philosophy is to lead a student-centered lesson/classroom. I value meeting all the student's needs and I will do anything I need to do to help my students reach their goals. I understand that every student learns differently and I value finding ways to ensure every single student gets what they need from me to succeed. I like to make my tutoring lessons fun by using videos, songs, and games to advance learning. I believe students are more likely to succeed if they are enjoying the lessons and having fun while doing so but I also focus on the content needed for them to succeed. During my free time, I love playing all sports, especially soccer. When I'm not playing sports I am spending time with my family. I look forward to working with the students.
