I am a graduate of Northwestern State University in Louisiana where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Social Science. Shortly afterwards, I attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe where I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Gerontology with a
concentration in Long-term Care Administration and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education. Although I briefly entered the healthcare field as a Nursing Facility Administrator in training and an Admissions and Marketing Director for a long-term care facility, most of my professional career has been spent in the classroom. I have dedicated 20 phenomenal years to my students as a science educator. The latter ten years of my teaching career involved engaging middle school students to foster a deep appreciation for the world around them. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have also served as: a pilot teacher for an open source curriculum in science used in several states, a teacher leader for my district and state, and currently as a Gifted Site Coordinator at a local high school. I believe that every student deserves an opportunity to be his/her best self. Great teachers can make this happen.
