Teaching English as a foreign language is an in-demand skill and having experience teaching different cultures set me apart from other candidates in the field. Also, working in a multicultural setting like that has improve my adaptability and cultural sensitivity, which is crucial in today's globalized society.
My career goal is to become a teacher or professor specifically in the fields of information technology and cybersecurity. I am interested in this career path because I am passionate about technology and its impact on society. I believe that teaching is a way to share my knowledge and skills with others, and to help prepare the next generation of professionals in this field. Ultimately my career goal is to make a positive impact on my students and to contribute to the advancement of the field of information technology and cybersecurity. In my academic pursuit, I have earned a career certification in Information technology, Network administration, and an Associate of Applied Degree in cybersecurity. In the process, I have taken classes in public speaking, Psychology, communication and project management where I had to work in groups and with classmates from diverse backgrounds. I have also earned a diversity awareness certification from FEMA for participating in interactive diversity training sessions. I believe all these experiences combined with my strong communication skills, would help me in this tutoring program. During my professional experience, I have gained some skills and abilities necessary to properly train and teach new employees as well as assess their progress over my four-year experience as a staff coach and restaurant supervisor at Erickson Living Inc. These skills are beneficial in a teaching setting where I would be responsible for students' education, training, and growth. The fact that I was involved in employee hiring and retention further demonstrates that I have gained good interpersonal skills and the capacity to create and preserve enduring connections. My involvement in academic and professional organizations such as ASME, NSBE, NSLS, African Heritage Twinning Committee and the Red Cross society had offered me tremendous opportunity to work with individuals from various backgrounds. During my 19-year living in Africa, I volunteered and participated in multiple leadership roles in organizations such as Ghana Methodist Students Union and Ghana Civic and Parliamentary Club where I was involved in training and promoting the core values of the organizations among students. Throughout academic and professional experiences, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of individuals, including colleagues, and clients, and have consistently delivered exceptional results. All of these are highly valued in the teaching profession and indicate that I would be a strong asset to a school or educational institution.
One of the main reasons I believe I am an ideal fit for this program is that I have excellent communication skills. I can listen carefully to others and express my thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely. Furthermore, I believe that my adaptability and flexibility will be beneficial in this internship. It is critical to be able to adjust to new environments and situations, especially when dealing with different cultures. My ability to think quickly and my resistance to being discouraged by setbacks or difficulties are both excellent qualities for a teacher.
My desire to support and encourage others' growth is what drives my passion for teaching. Whether it be through one-on-one coaching sessions, group training programs, or academic lectures, I attempt to adjust my approach to everyone's specific learning style and needs since I firmly think that everyone has the potential to thrive in their respective disciplines. I am confident in my ability to effectively connect with people from a variety of backgrounds because I have lived extensively in Africa and the United States and have been exposed to diverse cultures and lifestyles. Overall, I strongly believe that my skills, experience, and passion for teaching and coaching make me perfect fit for the teaching program. Thank you.
