From a childhood awash in vibrant crayons to the more medium-based art I explore today, art has always been my compass, guiding me through expression and discovery.
My journey began with a BFA, where I delved into diverse media, absorbing techniques and honing my skills. But the true awakening came through sharing my passion. Witnessing the spark ignite in a student's eyes as they grasped a new concept or idea fueled a desire to nurture artistic growth beyond myself.
Today, as an MFA student at the University of British Columbia (UBC), I'm actively fostering artistic development in others while refining my own. Whether leading workshops on experimental collage or mentoring undergraduate projects, I find immense satisfaction in guiding and empowering emerging student artists. It's not just about imparting technical knowledge; it's about cultivating a space for creative exploration, critical thinking, and fearless experimentation.
This constant growth allows me to bring fresh energy and experiences to my mentorship, inspiring students to embrace the fluidity and interconnectedness of the art world. My ultimate goal is not just to create impactful art but also to ignite creative fires in others.
I believe that art transcends personal expression; it holds the power to connect us, challenge paradigms, and spark societal change. By nurturing the next generation of artists, I contribute to a future where art remains a potent force for individual and collective transformation. This is not just a path I walk, but a purpose I embrace with unwavering passion.
