Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Georgia State University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and Management. I received my Master's Degree in Special Education with a Reading Endorsement. I went on to Nova Southeastern University where I obtained my Specialist Degree in Brain-Based Learning and Teacher Leadership. I taught Reading, Writing, Language Arts, and Social Studies for 20+ years in Cobb County, Georgia, and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in Tennessee. During those years I taught in grade levels from 1st through 12th in both General and Exceptional settings. While I have instructed in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading. READING IS ESSENTIAL - not only to the learning process, but as an invaluable life skill. No student, in school or life, needs to constantly struggle with the Reading process. In my experience helping struggling readers gain the skills needed to read with fluency and comprehension, I always delight in watching their confidence and poise expand as their skill levels increase. Invariably, as their reading skills grow, so do the natural components of writing and efficient study strategies. When not on the job, I enjoy reading, crafting, gardening, and spending time with my children and extended family.
