Certified Tutor
I am a biologist with a Master of Science in Biology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and doctoral research experience in lizard biomechanics at the University of South Florida. Over the years I have worked as a teaching assistant, mentor, and science communicator, and I have found my greatest joy comes from helping students connect with challenging material in ways that feel clear and meaningful.
I tutor a range of subjects in the sciences, particularly biology, environmental science, and related areas, and I also support students in developing strong study skills and confidence in their learning. My favorite subject to tutor is biology, because it brings together curiosity, critical thinking, and storytelling and I enjoy showing students how the concepts they learn in class connect to the living world around them.
My tutoring style is adaptive and student-centered. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, encourage students to explain material back in their own words, and use real-world examples to make abstract concepts come alive. I believe that every student can succeed with the right mix of patience, clarity, and encouragement, and I strive to make sessions both productive and confidence-building.
Outside of academics, I enjoy caring for reptiles and amphibians, sketching nature, cooking family recipes, and exploring Florida's wildlife. I bring the same curiosity and creativity I find in my hobbies into my teaching, always looking for ways to spark a student's interest and help them see themselves as capable learners.

Graduate Degree: California State Polytechnic University-Pomona - Master of Science, Biology, General
I enjoy caring for reptiles and amphibians, spending time outdoors exploring Florida’s wildlife, and drawing nature-inspired sketches. I also love science communication — finding creative ways to explain biology concepts in ways that connect with people. Outside of science, I like walking, cooking with my family’s recipes, and reading.
