Certified Tutor
My educational background consists of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from The University of Southern Mississippi in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Communication, Applied Technology and Instructional Technology. Also, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I completed a professional certification course in "Master Negotiation" from the Harvard University Business School Online. My professional background as Communications Analyst afforded me skills in analytical, data management, and critical thinking. I transitioned my acquired skills toward becoming a Paraprofessional Intervention Instructor specializing in Behavioral Management.
As a Paraprofessional Intervention Teacher in the Public and Private School System, I assisted in providing instructional, behavioral, and educational resources to aid in the student learning platform outside the classroom. My preferred area of tutoring and teaching is in the early Tier 1, 2, and 3 reading platforms using phonics and phonological awareness for children in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I am most experienced in tutoring/instructing one-on-one and in groups of up to 4 students to better expand their literacy in reading comprehension. The students that I tutored online during the COVID-19 pandemic were very successful when returning to their normal classroom environment. After COVID-19, I have tutored students that fell behind in reading comprehension at their grade level and successfully brought them up to the level needed. My fun method of teaching is behavior management as the key to learning by believing in the No Kid Left Behind initiative to learn with enjoyment. In this role, I assist in providing instructional, behavioral, and educational resources to aid and strengthen early education to students in developing better reading abilities for in-class and state-level testing. This was achieved by developing and implementing one-on-one and group study platforms to fully engage and deploy adequate reading assignments to enhance the reader's ability to pronounce letters into words, understand how to define each word, and when/where to properly place words into correct sentencing form. During my tenure of teaching and tutoring, over 100+ students have successfully returned to their grade-level classroom environment with the ability to read at or above their Tier levels. These results are a method of teaching style used to assist students in focusing on behavior management and the development of word structuring. These are the primary keys to enhancing a learner's ability in comprehensive reading.
