Certified Tutor

Having taught school for eight years in and around my hometown of Detroit, I am deeply dedicated to helping young people achieve. I am very happy to provide as a tutor the individual attention that students aren't often able to receive among dozens of other pupils in a classroom.

I have experience as a middle school reading tutor in 2019 to 2020 and elementary school math tutor in 2017 to 2018, in addition to my teaching background. I also worked as a math tutor during my senior year in high school, mainly helping with algebra and geometry.

During the most recent school year, 2024-25, I served as a full-time special ed paraprofessional at a school in Southfield, MI, working with elementary school students. Currently I'm a reading instructor with an after-school program at a Kumon learning center in Detroit. I've worked there since February 2024.

As a member of the Varsity Tutors family, I am very happy to use my ability to break down, clarify and explain concepts in a way that kids can understand.

I am a December 1998 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I majored in journalism and minored in sociology. From 1999 to 2013, I used my love of the written word daily as a reporter for People magazine in New York City.

Immediately after relocating to my native Detroit, I began to fulfill a long-time interest of entering the education field. I can sincerely say that teaching and tutoring have been rewarding beyond words!
