Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Augusta University where I received my Education Specialist in Advanced Educational Studies and my Reading Endorsement. Additionally, I graduated from Western Governors University where I received my Master of Education in Instructional Design, Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, and Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. I recently completed the Wilson Reading Systems Level 1 Practicum which earned me certification as a Wilson Reading Tutor and Dyslexia Practitioner. I have also received training on the Orton Gillingham Reading approach and have been trained through the RISE Institute for Literacy. I hold teacher certification in the State of Georgia under the areas of Elementary Education (P-5), Special Education (all content areas, K-12), Reading Endorsement, ESOL endorsement, and Special Education Adapted Curriculum. Professionally, I have been a public school teacher for thirteen years with two years teaching middle grades and eleven years teaching elementary education. Beyond the traditional public school setting, I have supported online instruction of students through instruction of English courses. While I tutor a broad range of subject areas, I am most passionate about teaching literacy and Social Studies (across all grade levels) while I prefer to tutor Mathematics and Science at the elementary levels. I can support students across an array of educational needs including those with identified learning needs. Teaching is my passion and I believe that all students can learn and that learning is an individualized process that should be interactive, student-centered, goal-oriented, and engaging. I can support an array of learning styles. Additionally, my matriculation through a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) program (non-certified), Applied Behavior Analysis, Crisis Prevention training, and experience as a teacher of students with Autism and Emotional Behavioral Disorders allows me to support students with specific behavioral needs.
