I am an English and Kindergarten teacher, with Montessori teaching training, and with a degree in Education; with over 13 years of experience with young children, elementary school students, and adult learners. I am Mexican, born and raised, but moved as an adult to the United States and continued to work in education as a substitute teacher, for teaching is my love and joy.
I believe that Education is key to a better future, for individuals as well as for society. The impact a teacher can make in a student's life can transcend generations, as it betters the life not only of the student, but also their families and communities; thus, it is our responsibility as educators to help them reach their full potential and encourage them to challenge themselves with higher learning goals. It is with this in mind that I take time to know and understand my students and build a supportive relationship with them. I firmly believe that respect, good communication, and commitment are the foundations of good teacher-student relationships and are necessary to guide them as they transition to independent learners.
In my 13 years of experience teaching English, Math, and Science in regular classrooms, and with special education children, I have come to understand that while some students may benefit from a "hands on" learning approach, others might be better suited to "watch and learn", stressing the importance for the teacher to have different skill sets to satisfy the needs of every student. For this, having both a teaching degree, and a Montessori education certification, has allowed me not only to broaden my perspective on how children learn, but also, to put to practice different teaching methodologies. It is my personal mission and joy to help others understand and explore the world, helping them in their pursuit of a better and brighter future.

I love gardening, reading, crafting, taking walks, and of course, teaching. I read a wide variety of authors, but I can firmly admit that fiction is my favorite genre. My ideal afternoon would be to pour myself a cup of coffee or tea, have some sweet bread or cookies, and a nice book or movie, accompanied by my family and pets. I am also a big fan of crafting, so I always have spare cardboard, fabric, ribbons and my trusty hot glue gun in hand, ready to make something that jumps to mind.
