Rumaana
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate, possessing a 2.1 accredited degree in Biomedical Science. Currently, I work part time in a microbiology laboratory and specifically train new employees, which highlights my ongoing passion for Science, as well as teaching. On a daily basis, I teach the different types of microorganisms, their growth on various agar plates and their antibiotic sensitivities. I have proved myself in my current job that patience is key to seeing progress and supporting the individual with not only words of encouragement but feedback for improvement. For example, through observation and questions, I notice that employees struggle with time management and I advise them to write down their duties in order of priority for the day. I have always had a keen interest in being able to pass on my knowledge of science, particularly Biology, to individuals in order for it to 'click' for them as it did for me during my GCSES. I understand the importance of teaching one on one, as each individual varies in their learning and retaining of information whether that be visual, auditory or written. I strongly believe that creating a good relationship between student and teacher creates the perfect foundation for wanting to learn.
