I am a graduate with 1st Class Honours in Information and Library Studies from Loughborough University. Since graduating in 1995, I have worked in a variety of educational roles both in the UK and abroad, working with students varying in age from 4 years to 18 years throughout my career. Through jobs as a school librarian, teaching support assistant, and student support, I have worked with students for the last 25 years and have a wide variety of experience in supporting and encouraging students, teaching subjects and helping students to achieve their full potential.
I have tutored students in English and Maths previously, and more recently worked closely with a Maths department providing 1-to-1 tutoring to students and teaching small groups in preparation for GCSE Maths exams. I currently work part time as a secondary school librarian and support whole school literacy within my role. I recently gained a Level 5 TEFL qualification, and am now also qualified to teach English as a foreign language.
I have always been both interested in, and successful in a wide range of subjects, achieving high grades in A'Levels in Maths, English Language and Textiles. This broad base of knowledge has helped provide a firm foundation for imparting knowledge to students. I have a great rapport with all the students I work with, and I can really help to explain topics clearly, highlight areas for improvement, and plug gaps in knowledge.
I believe in life-long learning. I don't believe that education ends when you finish school but that we all continue to grow and should be open to learning new things all the way through life. My philosophy is to stay positive and keep learning. I know first hand the satisfaction of continued learning as a student of the Italian language, which I have been learning as an adult since 2014.

In my spare time I enjoy learning Italian, participating in an adult education class, as well as doing a weekly language exchange on Skype with a native Italian. I love to read Italian books and listen to Italian programmes, and of course to travel to Italy whenever possible. I enjoy swimming 3 or 4 times a week for exercise, reading, and cooking and spending time with my family.
