I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

In 2018, I decided to study psychology abroad at the University of Groningen. I completed my bachelor's degree in August 2021. After a short break, I then returned back to the Netherlands (from the UK) to complete my Master's degree in positive clinical psychology. I am currently just finalising my thesis and hope to complete a PhD after.

I have done a lot of advanced research methods courses and statistics courses. I often put this to good use by correcting or proofreading others' papers. As a native English speaker, I am also able to correct grammar and language.

I have also had a lot of courses on motivation. From a psychological perspective, I learnt what the best motivators are and how to increase intrinsic motivation. I also applied some of these motivators to my own studies. Therefore, I have a lot of study tips to help save time and increase productivity.

In my studies, I often worked with others and in my experience, a good teacher can really make a difference and can stimulate further interest. One of the things that can really help progress is encouragement and consistent evaluation. There are many many many ways to learn and I have personally tried out many methods.

I love learning and I wish to teach in a way that translates this. I also want my lessons to be fun and enjoyable. I want my lessons to be an active collaboration and for my students to be able to ask any questions and for us to come up with the answer together.

I understand that different people have different needs for a tutor and I am very adaptable. I think its important to set these expectations and create realistic goals for our sessions.

On a personal level, I am a friendly and enthusiastic person. I was born and raised in the UK and I moved abroad to study and love meeting people from all over the world. I am a very patient person and I do not mind putting in extra time and effort just to see you thrive. I would like my lessons to be productive but also fun!

Hobbies

In my spare time, I like to make art. I really like using mixed mediums (at the moment watercolours and inks). I am thinking about perusing a career as an Art Therapist in the future, but this is still to be decided... I also like to bake and my kitchen usually smells really nice.
