I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a rising Senior at Saint Louis University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Major and a Bachelor of Arts in History Major. As a nine-year-old child of immigrant parents, I had to take up "grown-up" responsibilities and tasks, which included interpreting and filling out papers, as well as having to teach my parents English. I detested doing such tasks and teaching them. But over time I found a passion for teaching, specifically teaching a language. In high school, I would teach my friends Arabic, and attempt to give English lessons to my parents during summer break. I also had an opportunity to tutor first and fifth graders, which grew my perspective of different learning methods and explaining concepts to students of different ages. I have created Arabic courses for English speakers on the online platform Teachable, but unfortunately did not have an opportunity to make my profile public. Once again, I am utilizing a remote method to teach, but this time I am eager to meet students, get to know them, and start the journey together.

Hobbies

Making arts and crafts is very entertaining for me. I love starting new DIY projects and making things from scratch that I otherwise cannot find in stores. Recently, I have also found a love for music and decided to start learning to play the guitar. If I'm not practicing the guitar or working on crafts, I spend time out in nature, either walking or simply enjoying some quiet moments in the shade.
