I am a graduate of Appalachian State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in English Secondary Education with Summa cum Laude honors. I have tutored students in rural Colorado as part of the Americorps federal volunteer program, taught English in rural North Carolina, and earned an ESL certificate from Oregon State University while teaching English and ESL in Salem, Oregon. My passion is for tutoring and teaching English, especially writing. I also have a strong track record preparing students for the Critical Reading section of state standardized tests. I am a firm believer in the importance of education and the effectiveness of holding students to high expectations while supporting them with strong scaffolding and high interest activities.

Hobbies

I'm a lover of all sports, and especially enjoy getting out to baseball games as much as possible. Other sports I love are football, college gymnastics, Formula 1 racing, and ultimate frisbee. My partner and I are also on day 109 of a streak of running at least one mile every day.
