Certified Tutor

I am excited to start tutoring again!
I have tutored both AP Chemistry students and College-level students. I am now retired from full-time teaching, and I have plenty of flexibility in my schedule. Being an AP Chemistry 'Reader' (examiner) for several years has given me a lot of understanding of the student skills needed to do well on the AP Chemistry exams.
I have over 10 years of high-school teaching experience, where I taught Chemistry, Physical Science and Physics. More recently I made the switch to teaching in a rural Community College, which has been a very different experience to the private school environment.
My favorite experiences in teaching have been in the small group or 1-on-1 settings, where I really feel that the most can be accomplished with the least amount of time wasted! I have enjoyed the test-prep tutoring sessions that I gave whilst I was a teacher at a private school, but also coached students for their high-school chemistry courses after I left the high-school setting.
I received my education in England, and earned both my B.Sc. and Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of York. I came to the U.S. to further my knowledge of Chemistry with postdoctoral research and worked in academic settings as a researcher and then teacher.
