Certified Tutor

I am an educator first. I have been a teacher for 20+ years, teaching HS English 11 & 12, Speech and Debate, as well as Theatre, acting, and now working with high school Special Education students during the day.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in theatre, with a minor in vocal performance while also studying literature at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. I later returned to college at UNC-Greensboro to study Theatre Education and English Education. While in college, I worked at Lee's-McRae Summer Stock Theater (In Banner Elk, NC) as a costumer, at Lincoln Amphitheatre in Indiana as a scenic artist and as an actor, and in the WCU Scene shop as a carpenter and scenic artist. I performed onstage in productions with the theatre program and enjoyed singing in concerts and touring with the Concert Choir, Catamount Show Choir and University Singers. After college, I went to work for the Barter Theatre in Virginia as a Scenic Artist painting sets, and it was while there I decided to attend UNC-G to earn a teaching license for theatre education, and in HS English. In 2020, I was inducted into the NC Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame.
