Certified Tutor

I am a two-time graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus in Military Science and Constitutional Studies in 2015. I recently received my Master's in Adult and Higher Education in December of 2021. I have been avidly involved in residence life through collegiate housing for about 5 years now. I am now an Army veteran with 8 years of completed service time where I served as an HR Officer gaining proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

My tutoring experience ranges from tutoring my younger siblings to collegiate youth and adults. I have experience working with student-athletes as I served as a housing coordinator for OU Athletics. I have been tutoring via Varsity Tutors for a year now and, while I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English Language and Literature, Spanish, US/World History and Government. I have been studying Spanish since the 6th grade and I was minoring in it in college until I changed my degree path so I can tutor up to about a Spanish 2 or 3 level. I enjoy classic literature and read for fun in my free time.

I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. My parents instilled in me at an early age that knowledge is power. I have grown to truly understand the importance of higher education, while also acknowledging the power of obtaining vocational skills. I strive to operate from a place of empathy and ethic of care with all of the students that I have mentored over the years as I believe in putting the students' needs first before getting to the root of what needs to be learned.
