Certified Tutor

I am currently in my last semester at Texas Tech University. I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in May of 2022. I am currently student teaching in a third grade class where I have planned and implemented lessons in English Language Arts and Reading, Phonics, Social Studies, Math and Science. Prior to this, I have worked with an AmeriCorps Program, City Year, in Boston. Here I was a mentor, as well as a tutor, to four classes of 10th grade students. During this time, I worked with 10th grade students in academics, social- emotional learning and attendance on a daily basis. I taught small groups consisting of 1 to 6 students, collected and documented data and set goals with students. I also worked one- on- one with students during after- school tutoring hours. I also have experience working at Brain Balance Achievement Center. At Brain Balance, I was a mentor and coach to children from the age of 3 to 18. I worked with children to complete a various of task to help them learn how to overcome challenges they are facing. During this time, I learned that every child communicates differently and as a mentor, it is my job to communicate with the children in the way that works best with them. My love for teaching is driven by my dedication to creating a learning environment that is inclusive to all students.
