Certified Tutor

Hello! My name is Rebecca Messer. I am an American citizen located in Honduras. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, read, travel, and watch Netflix.

Prior to living in Honduras, I attended college at the University of Tennesse at Chattanooga. While there, I majored in Early Childhood: Child and Family Studies, was a member of the Honors College, a Resident Assistant, and a Peer Consultant at the Writing and Communications Center on campus. I also volunteered with two nonprofits on campus, College Knowledge NOW! (CKNOW!) and Baskets of Smiles (BoS). With CKNOW!, we provided a day-long experience at the university to help elementary school students learn about post-secondary education opportunities. BoS was a nonprofit that worked to give "Easter baskets" filled with personal items, toys, and education materials to homeless children in the Chattanooga and Knoxville areas.

Before tutoring with Varsity Tutors, I worked as a preschool teacher, college tutor, and primary school teacher. Due to these positions, I have experience working with children from all backgrounds (culturally, academically, linguistically, etc.). While I love tutoring reading and writing, I also enjoy working with students on Phonics and history.
