Certified Tutor

Hi there! My name is Ana Gutierrez and I am a graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill studying Applied Epidemiology. I also have a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences and a graduate certificate in Advanced International Affairs from Texas A&M University.

As the daughter of a first grade bilingual teacher, I grew up surrounded by lesson plans and educational activities, fostering my love for teaching younger students.

I began tutoring Spanish while in high school and transitioned to tutoring biology, chemistry, math and physics as a peer-tutor in college. Most recently, I taught Spanish to a toddler, expanding my teaching experience to students aged from 1 to 20 years old.

My approach to tutoring is reframing concepts through analogies that are easier to understand based on a student's personal experience. I also rely on mixed media such as Khan Academy and online activities to supplement in-class lessons for students interested in take-home activities. Overall, my approach is conversational and approachable!
