I began my career working in and around Manhattan as a product manager for art and fashion houses after earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, Economics, and Art History from Fairfield University in Connecticut. When the market shifted after September 11th, I decided to enroll in The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where I earned my Master of Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary Education.
Since 2005 I have taught elementary education in grades 2 -5 and the last ten years I have been a visual arts teachers for children in K-6.
My classroom teaching background is diverse in that I have taught in a variety of socioeconomic schools in Connecticut, Virginia, and for the past nine years on the coast of South Carolina.
I am passionate about bring art to every child's life through art education and enjoy focusing on artists that connect with their daily life through shared life experiences. I also feel with the advent of technology my job is to reinforce and refine their fine motor skills. I have found a plethora of low-cost art tools from ergonomic paint brushes, scissors, and sewing tools that allow students to truly enjoy art making while strengthening their hand and wrist muscles.
My background as a classroom teacher coupled with my visual art experience allows me to be flexible to tailor my teaching to your child's needs. I look forward to discussing with you how I may help enhance your child's education in a fun and interactive manner!
