Certified Tutor
I am a licensed high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience teaching students who struggle, or dislike math, how to succeed at Algebra and Geometry.
In 2003, I completed my Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Michigan State University. I wrote my dissertation about the math-learning experiences of high school students who were unsuccessful in math as middle-schoolers; the goal of my study was to understand what would make these students' math-learning experiences successful -- which is my goal, when teaching and tutoring!
I take great satisfaction in helping make seemingly complex concepts easy for students to grasp. I want my students to truly *understand* what they're doing, rather than just going through the motions. I enjoy working one-on-one with students and helping them realize that they *can* succeed at math!
My teaching philosophy in a nutshell: Math is not a spectator sport; the only way to learn math is to do math!
