As a young child sitting at the kitchen table sobbing over their subtraction homework, my mom would console me by saying, "Math is like a game, Chloe! It can be fun!" Yeah right, I thought. My little six year old mind couldn't comprehend the fact that I could ever find math enjoyable, let alone fun.

Fast forward many years and I have found math to be one of the most rewarding and fulfilling subjects in school. Why? Because math IS a game! Games challenge you to think, find the pattern, and solve the puzzle. Well guess what, math does the same thing!

The reason why most people hate math isn't because they don't understand, it's because it's frustrating. And that frustration prevents people from understanding. Up to and after graduating high school I tutored for a company called Mathnasium. I worked with all kinds of students from many different backgrounds. I helped children overcome their frustrations with math, and seeing the light in their eyes when they realized they can, in fact, enjoy math was one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Every child is capable of understanding math, every single one.

Since then I have moved to Texas and have been working on my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering (and enjoying MASSIVE amounts of barbecue). I love to run, I've run two half marathons and one 10k. I also spend my afternoons powerlifting and extending my personal records (300lb deadlift here we come!).
