William Butler Yeats wrote, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." Upon this quote, I build the cornerstones of my teaching philosophy. As a school teacher and experienced curriculum designer, I believe teaching is the skilled practice of guiding students to a wealth of knowledge, inspiring them to love learning, teaching them the skills to be successful in their field of choice, and motivating them to live meaningful lives of positive influence.
I have worked in education for the past fifteen years as a secondary and elementary teacher, online English and Pathway instructor, reading specialist, curriculum specialist, and instructional coach. I have a master's degree in education and a bachelor's degree in journalism.
