In my lifetime the teachers who have truly done the extra mile for me have had a significant impact on my life. They helped me push myself to accomplish things that I did not think were possible. Thus, the classroom environment felt safe and comfortable for me to make mistakes and not feel embarrassed. In this way, I am passionate about helping students to provide them with a comfortable environment where they can enjoy learning.
I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to work and volunteer as an assistant teacher throughout my high school years.
I graduated from Seisen International High School which is located in Tokyo, Japan. I received my high school diploma and IB diploma as well. I am currently a freshman at Central Piedmont Community College earning my Associate's degree in Science. I then plan to transfer to a 4 year college and earn my Bachelor degree in Biology.
I tutor Elementary level English, Math, and Science. I also tutor Kindergarten level English and Reading. I have not had the opportunity to teach Science thus far, however, as it is my favorite subject, I believe I would have a lot of enjoyment teaching this subject.
My teaching philosophy is to create a comfortable environment for the student to enjoy learning and not feel afraid to make mistakes. On the other hand, my tutoring style depends on the students best learning style however I like to implement visual aids and have practice problems to reinforce what is being learned.
My interests outside of academia are volunteering, creative arts, and sports.
