Oliver: Highlands tutor
Certified Tutor
I am currently a junior in college in the process of finishing my Bachelor's of Mathematics with a minor in Psychology. I have been tutoring students from elementary school level to upper-level classes for chemistry and mathematics for about 5 years now. I also have experience with taking the SAT/ACT and am comfortable tutoring the Math/Science sections of standardized tests. After earning my Bachelor's degree, I plan on becoming a math teacher or full-time tutor to provide extra support for those that may need it, and will eventually go back for my Master's degree. I have slightly different approaches and methods to tutor depending on the age group/grade-level. Although I love making sure the student feels more confident with their subject knowledge, I also always try my best to make sure the person is comfortable with how I teach/present the material. Over my years of tutoring, I have experienced students of all different learning styles and capabilities. So, if someone were to be confused or struggling with how I first help them, I would "take a step back" and look at it from a different angle to find another way on how to present the material.
In high school, I completed Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus Algebra/Trigonometry, AP Calculus 1, Honors Chemistry and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. So far in college, I have completed General Chemistry 1, 2, both Lab courses, Calculus 1-3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Numerical Analysis and have kept a 3.5 GPA so far. Although I haven't taken certain math/science courses since high school, all of the upper-level math courses I am currently enrolled in consistently incorporate the basics, so I haven't lost touch.
I am always open to new suggestions, resources, and feedback from both students and parents alike. I am easy to reach and will always try my best to respond as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
