Certified Tutor
I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University. While I began in Environmental Science, I changed course to graduate in Political Science and Criminal Justice. I've taken a path perhaps less traveled into academia and education, 2 years of substitute teaching k-12 in a wide range of subjects was what showed me just how much I loved to teach! From there I've worked with university students as an Academic Coach and Professional Tutor; in classroom settings, one on one in person as well as various arrangements of virtual tutoring post-pandemic.
Most recently I've worked largely in Language Arts, Government and Civics, Ethics, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Pre-law, History both ancient and modern, and the list goes on...
Few things in this life can match the feeling of rejoicing with a student in their success - knowing I've helped them realize their academic goals! Since the onset of the pandemic I've created individualized digital learning programs for several students, I enjoy the diversity and online learning only opens up those opportunities!

Undergraduate Degree: Northern Michigan University - Bachelor of Science, Political Science and Government
I love to learn, as an avid reader and writer, but it goes well beyond that. I adore to explore! New places and new faces are near guaranteed to teach us something we didn’t know before. I believe education is the foundation of our societies, not only does it frame what decision making tools we take into the world, additionally it largely dictates what opportunities and considerations we are able to get in said world. You can’t know what you don’t know - simplistic in nature yet profound. I frequently work with local as well as state wide at risk youth. I have volunteered as well as worked in some compensated capacities with various causes, largely education related. For example tutoring athletes from local universities who are from at risk backgrounds. Lastly I must mention my love of the great out-of-doors as well as in. For several years I’ve been a Certified Wilderness First Responder, my specialty is extrication or getting people out of the woods to put it another way. I initially took the course for my own knowledge, but quickly realized it was a great position for me as it combines two of my great passions - nature and helping people. I also love taking adventures with my pup out in the forests of Upper Michigan. Kayaking and trail running are a couple of our favorites. In contrast my local libraries are always a main hangout spot for me and have been since I can remember, there’s nothing quite like being in the presence of so many great works you can readily access (cost free)!
