My mission is that each student has a better understanding of what they read to minimize the possibility of someone taking advantage of them.
I am a graduate of Point Park College (now Point Park University) where I received a Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Services with a focus on Social Work. Upon graduation, I took a position as a TSS worker placed in the Scranton School District, work I found rewarding trying to keep my student focused on their educational studies throughout the school day. My tutoring career started after some research where I came upon VIPKid tutoring students in China. Tutoring these students was very rewarding as I watched their progress towards speaking and reading in English.
Reading is the foundation of all learning. Once you're able to recognize, pronounce, form sentences, and understand the words that make up stories and word problems you will not only be able to interpret what you've read but will be confident in solving problems. I like to start with the basics of reading, recognition of letter sounds and phonics as the first block in a series of building blocks to comprehensive reading. So, reading and listening to music is a past time that I enjoy very much. I also enjoy playing board games that involve word building, traveling, cooking, and baking, as well as spending time with family and friends.
