Scott Hayden once said, "Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together."
My love for teaching began when I was a student working towards my associate degree and was provided the opportunity to tutor other students at my college. One of my professors, a man who later went on to mentor me through my undergraduate thesis, recommended me for a position as a writing tutor at my school's academic support center my freshman year. I worked in that tutoring center until I graduated in 2017. Since then, I have been the lead teacher in my own classroom and have truly discovered my niche in teaching writing and reading comprehension. An avid reader myself, I understand the correlation between love of reading from a young age and critical thinking abilities later in life. According to the Literacy Project, "students who
choose what they read and have an informal environment in which to read tend to be more motivated, read more and show greater language and literacy development."
My goal is to provide the space for all students whom I tutor to gain the skills they need to be the best readers and writers they can be!
