I received my education at Maryville University in Saint Louis, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences, with a physical therapy concentration. I am currently a 3rd year medical student at Kansas City University and I am scheduled to graduate with my medical doctorate in 2023. My main teaching interests include high school and AP level biology and anatomy and physiology. I also have significant interests in non science subjects like social studies and history.
My teaching philosophy involves meeting students where they are at. I think our current education system uses a "one size fits all" approach all too often, and I believe students learn in many different ways. Now, this may include more traditional study strategies like flash cards or practice questions, or it can include other strategies like drawing pictures or crafting stories to make abstract subjects more understandable. The fact of the matter is everyone is different, and everyone learns in different ways, so this needs to be addressed by a tutor, and I believe strongly in my ability to do this.
I'm very drawn to helping students succeed because I all too well remember what it was like to be a high school and college student who needed a little help himself. The later years of high school and the early years of college can be a challenging time for students, and I can remember the strategies I used during this time to ultimately succeed myself. I hope I can use my experiences as a foundation to help guide students to achieving the scores I know they can achieve. I believe deep down that any student is capable of earning stellar grades if properly motivated, and my understanding of different learning styles motivates me to reach out to those who may be struggling in their current circumstances.
