Building a more equitable global community is the most important thing we can do for our emerging students. I teach and tutor reading, writing, and communication because I believe that communication is our best tool for achieving that future global community, while reading allows us to build on the experiences of the past and understand unfamiliar diverse cultures and points of view. I have a B.A. from Henderson State University in Arkansas, where I worked in the writing lab for three years. I'm an active member of the local NAACP branch, where I work to increase voter registration and community involvement. I've homeschooled my three children for the last ten years, and I regularly volunteer at our local library to help with programming for children and teens.
