Rebecca
Certified Tutor
After working for over 40 years in Human Resources, I retired and began working on an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, Indiana, which I completed in May of 2016. In December of 2017, I received a second Associate Degree in Business Operations, Applications & Technology. Along with this degree, I also became a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist. In 2018, I transferred my credits to Indiana University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in December of 2019. I am currently working on a second Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies at Purdue University. My favorite subjects are Psychology, Philosophy, Ethics, the Courts, Supreme Court rulings, and American History.
In 2019, I became a P-12 substitute teacher and worked in the schools until a year ago when I began tutoring. The subjects that I tutor are varied, but I can be of most help to students interested in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Publisher), Criminal Justice subjects, Writing, Human Resources, and American History.
To describe my teaching philosophy and tutoring style would be to say that I am patient. Every person learns differently, so listening to what the student is saying and what their needs are, is important to their success. Helping them to believe in themselves and become confident in their abilities is also something I strive for. Learning affects a person's life, and I like to help my students see what it can mean to them.
