Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of The Collage of Science at Morehead State University. I received my bachelor's degree in agricultural Sciences with additional years of study in Middle Grades English and Science Education. I have spent about the past 5 years teaching and tutoring a wide range of classes to k-12 students as well as collage age students in a wide range of areas including core classes, electives, and test preparation. Although, I teach many courses and tutor in many areas, my true love shines in teaching reading comprehension and the sciences where I connect my love of agriculture and small-scale farming to help teach material that can otherwise be boring to some students. I, in a way, help make course studies come alive in a fun, interactive, and hands-on, environment; even in online courses and tutoring sessions where material is applicable. I believe in a way of teaching that connects students to their daily lives and shows them the relevance of the information and how it may help then in the future. When possible, I make the point to connect course material back into their lives directly with topics they are interested in or in events that surrounds them day to day. I fell this makes the learning process easier for students of all ages. I also make sure and believe in teaching material in various ways for maximum retention and understanding. One of my main areas of tutoring is time management, organizational, and test prep skills along with reading comprehension. I believe these are some of the most valuable skills that can follow one through life that provides students the skills they need to become successful individuals. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time on the farm with my goats and dogs and enjoy hiking and reading books by fire. You can also find me tucked away working in my soap production cabin creating handcrafted artisan soaps. I love everything that I do, and I have a wide range of skills and life experiences that stands me out from the crowd; this makes me a better teacher because of it. I believe our young generation is our future and we need to do all we can to invest in them and help to make them be the best version of themselves that they can be and encourage them to reach their dreams.
