Certified Tutor

Omar was born on the south side of Chicago and started his entertainment career at 13 years old as a commercial actor. Only a few years later he won his first award in writing from the NAACP while working as a director trainee.

After working three jobs he wrote, producing and directed his first independently funded film and moved to Los Angeles and began working his way up through the entertainment industry. When deals 'fell through' he worked in the mailroom of Universal Studios and sought after the advice of many well-established industry professionals. He worked his way through several jobs in production and visual effects landing a job running Saban Entertainment / Fox Kids Network as a CGI Production Manager and eventually co-owner of his own VFX Company.

After writing and selling several screenplays and producing projects for television, radio, and internet streaming services, not including working on multiple projects for Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Disney, Sony, and others, he returned to Chicago to work on several projects including Warner Bros. 'The Dark Knight".

Now, semi-retired, Omar has reached the pinnacle of his career by doing things he's always wanted to do. Own and operate a film festival with distribution opportunities for its content creators and teach the next generation. He says "My resume won't be on my tombstone. If I want to leave a strong legacy, then I have to take the knowledge I've gained over the years and share it. ... I'm passionate about helping people. Helping people excel from my achievements and avoid my career pitfalls. I not only tutor the basics of Digital Media, Filmmaking, Productivity, Visual Studio, and iMovie, I also teach the philosophy behind these concentrations as learned from my years of experience. I pride myself on making sure that anyone that tutors with me will be better having taken this class with me, as well as mentorship in being the best versions of their creative selves that they can be."

The first thing we'll do is go over expectations. What do you expect from me and what do I expect from you. Then together, we'll discuss how we're going to meet these expectations in the time we have together.
