I obtained a master's degree in physics from the University of California Davis in the Fall of 2019. My focus was on using modern education theories to help adapt teaching practices to be more inclusive to a more diverse student base. Having put many of these practices in place in my teaching of physics classes at the University of California Davis, I received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students. From the summer of 2019 to the summer of 2020, I was an adjunct physics instructor for the Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento, CA. I was able to implement my teaching practices in a more controlled environment and I again received overwhelmingly positive feedback from my students and from my department's dean. I have experience teaching college physics classes and tutoring college math and physics. Most of my teaching has been to non-calculus focused physics students but I enjoy all levels of math and physics.
My goal as a tutor is to create an environment that encourages students of all backgrounds, interest levels, and skill sets to feel comfortable and understood. It is my goal to adapt to my client's needs and to not make them adapt to me. I believe students should focus on learning the material, and it is the job of the instructor/tutor to find the best ways to disseminate the information to the students in a way that best fits the students' needs.
I spend my free time playing video games, such as DOTA 2, and writing Dungeons and Dragons campaigns for my friends. I also love playing golf when I get the chance and finished 5th in a tournament in California last fall.
