I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

Hi, my name is Noah, I am a Junior biology student at UNC and I am very passionate about the natural sciences! I began tutoring in the fall of 2020 and absolutely fell in love with it. In high school I ran track and was known for always being on the sidelines cheering my teammates on. I hope to bring this energy to our sessions, I hope to see my students take pride in their knowledge and develop a hunger for success.

A bit about my qualifications... I have previously taken and received an A in each class that I tutor. I have taken numerous higher level classes in both chemistry and biology, and have developed a much simpler framework for understanding basic chemistry and biology concepts. I am currently a laboratory technician doing research on morphogenesis and cellular division in yeast, and I also work as an EMT. These side occupations have given me insight into both the clinical and practical applications of the concepts you will be learning and I hope that I can share some of my experiences to students considering careers in either research or medicine.

A bit about my tutoring style... I am a firm believer that every student has the ability to earn an A in any science class. A major pitfall that I have had myself is relying too much on resources other than my own brain. It's really easy to think that you need to use the internet or dig through your textbooks to solve a complex problem, but unfortunately this is not how learning happens. I want to be your roadguard during our sessions. I will be there to help you think through problems and understand confusing material, but my main goal is to see you succeed in working through the problems without outside assistance. This is not to say that I intend to be absent or reluctant to help you, there will be times when I am needed more than others. However, whenever possible I hope to see you master the material without any assistance.
