Sarah: Manhattan tutor

Certified Tutor

I am a graduate from Liberty University with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. I also completed my certification as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired. I have been teaching since 2010 and have taught in both elementary and high school special education classes. During this experience I taught all academic subjects and life skills. Additionally, I have taught as a teacher of the visually impaired (TVI) in both itinerant and residential settings. As a special education teacher and TVI, I have learned how to adapt materials and curriculum specific for each student I have worked with. I enjoy teaching math, science, reading, and Braille.

I believe in an interactive hands on approach as much as possible, and believe that learning should be fun. I want to share this passion with students, and help them become successful. My desire is to be an advocate for those who need it most, and to show them that with hard work and perseverance you can go far. One of my most favorite skills to teach is Braille. I have been teaching Braille for 7 years and have enjoyed the challenge of learning to read and write in Braille, and it is exciting to watch students become successful in this skill as well.

Outside of academic subjects, I enjoy looking up new recipes and making them for my family. I also love going to the ocean with my family for vacation and working on my vegetable garden in the summer.
